School Pride Warmth Set Follow Up - May 2012

So the one of the ladies from our church's business prayer meeting said she might have a mutual opportunity for some girls and me.  The idea is these girls would make a profit off of selling my items to people as a fundraiser.  I don't have all the details yet, I was only recently offered the idea.  With this in mind I crocheted up some samples.

My first two samples (above and below) are based on filet crochet style.  These are altered to have two stitch by one row squares instead of three stitch by one row squares.  Filet crochet is most easily read from a chart.  It is harder to see the designs in this particular yarn-hook combination (worsted weight yarn with H hook) than many of the other filet crochet samples I have seen.  I believe it would work better with a smaller hook.  But that will be an experiment for another day.

The second set of samples (above and below) is based on Fair Isle crochet.  By using two colors in each row, working one color, holding the other color still, and switching colors in pattern, the pattern pops out much more readily than my previous attempts (filet crochet).  Again, Fair Isle crochet is best read from charts.  I used Bremerton High School colors for (above) gold on blue and (below) blue on gold samples.

Following are three swashes for the body of the scarf or fingerless mitts.  The first swash is plain stripes with no border.  Second is stripes with a blue border.  And third is plain stripes with a yellow border.

I have not finalized the options I want to make available as of yet.  I will be contacting the lady from church and asking her input as well as feedback from several other sources.

Peace and Blessings!
