I decided I wanted to use up some of my purple and variegated yarn, so I went with this little project for starters. I like this style of hat because it has a double layer brim for extra warm over the ears (it folds up from the bottom) and it uses a linked double crochet so it has tall rows but is still doesn't let heat escape like regular double crochets.
In the picture below you can see the color differences between the two variegated yarns I used. I actually like the difference between the side and the dome.
This is the same pattern I used for the post "A Random little Hat. - Jan 2012" only in different colors.
