This particular project was inspired by a cloth-diapering friend of mine. She said something about wanting a woolen diaper soaker but could find any anywhere! So, while I was at our local yarn shop I happened to run across a kit for diaper soakers. It came with 4 oz of recommended super-wash wool in natural color, elastic banding, and an easy knit pattern. I must thank Appalachian Baby Design for their cute kit (reference and contact at bottom). Their pattern includes 4 sizes and I used the largest size.
The top picture is the finished soaker before the first wash, which "felts" the soaker. It was about 9" across and 9 1/2" top to bottom, laid flat, before the wash. The bottom two pictures are the after wash pictures. It shrank up almost 2 full inches top to bottom and stayed the same across in the felting process. The bottom picture is the final finished product with bow and everything! It amazes me how much one string of elastic band can make such a huge difference!
I hope everyone enjoyed this little side-track!
